Contributed by Tom Bateman. On February 1991 during Red Sea operations in support of Operation Desert Storm elements of Task Force One Five Five came together for a historic photographic opportunity. The picture shows portions of the three carrier battle groups which provided the forward punch in "Battle Force Red Sea." Task Force One Five Five is commanded by RADM Riley D. Mixson, currently embarked on board the Aircraft Carrier USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67). Pictured abreast from left to right: THOMAS S. Contributed by Chris Turner. On 11 April PREBLE rescued the crew of the Irish sailing yacht Meermin (seen here being pumped out), which took on water while crossing the Mediterranean sea.
