Dear Shipmates,
As we travel deeper into this Century I, and the editors of the Preble "YELL" (Sam (Sandra) and Terry), are on a quest to deliver the Preble "YELL" Newsletter electronically to you. In April 2004, you will receive a short E-Mail telling you that a newsletter has been posted to the Preble Web Site, www.usspreble.org, Tom Bateman, Webmaster .
It will appear in the "REUNION ASSOCIATION" selection on the Main Menu and it will be dated. This is the main reason Gene and I have been doing our best to get our database of E-Mail addresses up to date. Of course, it is up to you to help us do this. If you are not an Internet Junkie as the Siegfrieds and Wamsleys are, let us know and you will receive a copy by E-Mail or Snail Mail as the Shipmates without computers do. YES, there are still folks out there without computers. Hard to believe, isn't it?
Gene and Dale Wamsley, and Terry and Sam Siegfried are looking forward to a great reunion in Las Vegas in 2005. Eugene (Gene) Knurbein and Charles Koster will be our hosts. They know LV like the back of their eye lid's.
Thank You,
Gene Wamsley, Sam (Sandra) and Terry Siegfried
ASSOCIATION DUES
In San Diego, when the first reunion was held, it was voted on that we would pay dues to offset the expenses of the Association. It is of the utmost importance that we pay these dues. With these funds, we pay printing expenses postage maintenance of the website, expenses occurred with putting on reunions - things like deposits at the hotel/ the refreshments/ napkins/ cups/ etc in the host room. Normally there is also a donation cup to help with drinks so that we don't deplete the funds.
THE MORE MEMBERS SUPPORT THE ASSOCIATION THE MORE THE ASSOCIATION CAN PROVIDE AT REUNIONS. BUS TOURS , LIBATIONS ,SNACKS, CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST BIGGER AND BETTER HOST ROOMS .
WE ARE GETTING READY FOR LAS VEGAS
Our hosts for the upcoming reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada are: Eugene (Gene) Knurbein (geneknurbein@webtv.net) and Charles Koster. I am sure they would appreciate any help any of us could offer.
IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDING REUNIONS
Some shipmates come to the reunions wanting to see old friends from time aboard the ship, but the old friends don't come, why? You tell us. We would like to hear from you.
We understand that there are some of us with school aged children/or are raising school aged grandchildren, some of us with jobs that don't allow us to take vacation in certain times of the year. Please if this is part of the problem, please tell us so we can attempt to schedule reunions differently.
If the part of the problem is not enough lead time, let us know. We can't change things if we don't know about it.
