For those of you who missed the Reunion, we would like to introduce you to the Commander and Master Chief of the new USS PREBLE DDG-88
COMMANDER TIMOTHY A. BATZLER, UNITED STATES NAVY
COMMANDING OFFICER, USS PREBLE (DDG-88)
Commander Timothy A. Batzler, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, graduated with a bachelor?s degree in applied science and was commissioned an Ensign from the United States Naval Academy in 1983. Commander Batzler?s first sea assignment was USS CALLAGHAN (DDG-994) where he served as Electrical Officer, Combat Information Center Officer, Weapons Officer, and First Lieutenant. His subsequent sea duty tours were on the USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG-62) as Weapons Officer and Combat systems Officer and USS MILIUS (DDG-69) as Commissioning Executive Officer. Commander Batzler has completed deployments to the North Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, an around-the-world cruise, the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation DESERT STORM, and again to the Arabian Gulf. Commander Batzler?s shore and staff assignments include the Naval Post graduate school and Flag Secretary to the Superintendent of the U.S. Navy Academy War College. Prior to reporting to USS PREBLE (DDG-88), he was assigned to the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations working on training and education issues.
He was awarded a Master?s degree in Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1989 and a Master?s degree in National Security strategy from the National War College in 2000. Commander Batzler has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four Awards), and various service and campaign awards.
